Estonians aim to create 10 new video games in 48 hours
The Estonian chapter of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) is organizing a hackathon in Tallinn, Estonia to create ten new video game prototypes over the course of a weekend. The event, called IGDA GameDev, the event will take place from September 20th to 22nd. Teams for the hackathon will be assembled on the spot and will be mentored by numerous international gaming experts, including Creative Mobile and Fortumo.
“IGDA GameDev is an event for those people who are interested in creating video games but have not had the opportunity to implement their ideas – whether due to a lack of resources or people. The hackathon format enables them to kickstart their projects by finding teammates, building a prototype with the help of mentors with international experience and in the long run, develop an actual video game,” exaplined Kadri Ugand, co-organizer of the event and member of IGDA Estonia.
People with a background in development, design, marketing or business development are expected to attend the program. The teams with the best game prototypes will be awarded, prizes include one free pass into the gaming accelerator GameFounders.
The event starts in Tallinn on September 20th at 1PM with the piecing together of teams and ends on September 22nd with a presentation of the game prototypes. Those wishing to attend the event can sign up via http://bit.ly/igdagamedev.
Numerous gaming industry companies with international experience will be mentoring teams and conducting workshops during the event, including Wooga, Trinidad Consulting, Cashplay, Fortumo, GameFounders, Everyplay, Herocraft, Creative Mobile ja Playhaven.

Founded in april 2013, IGDA Estonia is the Estonian chapter of the International Game Developers Association. IGDA Estonia draws together members from the video game industry and its goal is to protect and promote their interests. Globally, IGDA has over 10 thousand members.
