FreshEst showcases Estonian design during London Fashion Week
During London Fashion Week 15-19 February the Estonian Ministry of Creative Affairs will open its doors and exhibit the works of four breakout designers and Creative Ambassadors from Estonia.
Taking over the renowned arts venue, The Horse Hospital, the fashion showcase will transform the space into a mythical immersive journey – a world that has its own breathing, inspired by the Nordic nature and unique aura. Using the contrast between the rigid structure of a Ministry as a façade for its living creative contents, the aim is to explore innovative ways of presenting Estonian emerging fashion through multidisciplinary means.
The showcase includes the screening of the dream-like film ‘After Beyond’ directed by Indrek Arula. In a fairytale-esque scenery it captures the feeling, inspiration and vision behind each designer’s work via a series of mythical characters and their stories, also featuring a special soundscape mixing electronica and cello by mrds and Maarit Kangron.
London based Helen Sirp directed the showcase and film set as part of her final project in Central Saint Martins, MA Narrative Environments.
The Estonian Ministry of Creative Affairs is part of International Fashion Showcase, a collaborative project launched by the British Council and British Fashion Council in 2012.
